When We Trigger Others

Navigating Wounded Energy with Others and in Community

We’ve talked about what it means to work through our own triggers. But what happens when we’re the one triggering someone else?

You know the feeling of walking on egg shells, unsure if what you’re going to say is going to ignite another emotional bomb.

We don’t want to hurt others or damage our relationships, but sometimes it’s our mere presence that begins to trigger negativity in others. It could be because we’re bringing a new perspective, asking challenging questions, or just because we look different.

I remember a time when people hired me to help their organizations and I unintentionally triggered people left and right. In the beginning I took it personally. I thought I was doing something wrong no matter how carefully I tread.

I've come to realize that triggering is often part of healing and transformation.

What can we do when we know we’re about to trigger others and risk dealing with hard emotions?

How do we stay grounded when someone’s wounded energy gets activated?

When is it better to stay engaged or just step away?

In this week’s podcast, I explore what it means to navigate wounded energy in others and in community. I share some of the signs that you’re walking into wounded territory, why triggers are often opportunities for growth, and how to move through them with greater awareness, discernment, and compassion.

I hope you’ll give it a listen. Would love to hear your thoughts below.
